Portuguese bridge
On the main road from Addis Ababa, just after the turning point to Debrelibanos, continuing on the main road for less than one kilometers and turning to the left on a gravel toad then you stop your car in compound and continue down to the bridge on foot.
The bridge, narrower than an ordinary bridge, is a point of controversy. One group says it is built in the 16th century by Portuguese while the other claim that the bridge is built by a noble Ethiopian (Uncle of Menilik,) Ras Darge in the 19th century. What makes the place more interesting is the 600 meters (2000 feet) fall. Had it had sufficient water it would have been comparable with the Blue Nile fall, whose fall is only 400 meters. After crossing the bridge, you go to your left by the side of the river until you reach on a large rock suitable to view the fall. The ideal time to visit this fall is in the Ethiopian main rainy season –June, July, and August.
More over the place is endowed with the Ethiopian endmic-Galada Baboons who live on the two side of the cliff. These baboons are also seen on your way to the monastery.
